Crisp and refreshing. Straw to light gold in colour, slightly hazy, white head. Unfiltered for smooth, full flavour. Balanced malt sweetness and hop bitterness. This beer is modeled after the lagers produced in Dortmund.
Several years ago the Guinness Book of World Records queried the Newmarket Municipal Office. They wanted to check records to see if Dr. Beswick, Newmarket’s first medical doctor, was the oldest doctor ever to serve in the British Army. As the story goes, his friends had asked him for years how old he was. His response was always the same ‘Check the inside of my Bible when I die’. Dr. Beswick was a private man, never marrying and never having any children. Upon his death in 1839, his friends peeled open his Bible and much to their chagrin found the Bible dated 1721. Supposedly, Dr. Beswick was 118 years old. Was Dr. Beswick the oldest the doctor who ever served in the British Army? Or just one hell of a practical joker? We’ll probably never know, but what we do know is a Beswick Lager a day keeps the doctor away!
